Abstract

The aim of this research project is to identify the major barriers which restrict the growth of the SME sector in Kosovo. First, the impact of SMEs in a countries economy is established – which is then compared against two countries from different economic categories – the United Kingdom and Kosovo. Second, in accordance with primary and secondary data, the major barriers are identified and thoroughly discussed. Lastly, based on the findings, recommendations have been developed. The methods used to acquire data include: surveys, in-depth interviews and the use of secondary sources.
