This thesis describes the creation of a body of paintings, "Homes for the Soul," inspired by the paintings found in Retablos and home altars in Mexico. The paintings also incorporate wooden housing structures and found objects. The themes of the paintings express the artist's Christian spirituality. The thesis presents historical background on Retablos and home altars of Mexico and the southwestern U.S., then describes the themes and creation of each piece of art in the artist's thesis show.
