Abstract

A penalty function finite element program is developed to study two dimensional creeping flow in a converging channel. The finite element solution is compared to the analytical solution of purely radial flow. The analysis reveals that the assumption of purely radial flow is valid for small apex angles, but is inappropriate for larger angles .
