Abstract

The effects due to iodide in a silver bromide octahedral crystal on the absorption spectra of adsorbed 3,3'-Diethyl-9- Methylthiacarbocyanine and 5,5'-Dichloro-3,3',9- Triethylthiacarbocyanine were investigated. It was found that iodide encouraged Ja-band aggragation for 5,5'-Dichloro-3,3;9-Triethylthiacarbocyanine but not for 3,3’-Diethyl-9-Methylthiacarbocyanine. The suggestion is made that iodide is acting as nucleation centers for 5,5'-Dichloro-3,3',9-Triethylthiacarbocyanine.
