Abstract

An electrophoresis silver stain was investigated using a unique method of sample introduction in polyacrylamide gel media. A protein inclusive polymerization technique is described that produces large area gels with controlled protein concentration steps. Using gels with Bovine Serum Albumin sample steps, an organic dye stain, Coomassie Brilliant Blue was found to be extremely linear in stain response. When used on a published silver stain (Merril,et. al.) a non-linearity caused by a diffuse background density was observed.
