Abstract
The current study investigated the status of the use of thematic picture projective techniques (TPP's) and other social-emotional-behavioral assessment techniques among practicing school psychologists. A total of 1 ,400 surveys were mailed to practicing school psychologists across the country. The return rate was 30%. This study looked at four factors: training in the use of TPP's, attitudes regarding TPP's, current practices in the use of TPP's, and current practices in social-emotional assessment. Results indicate that TPP's are used only rarely in assessment of socialemotional- behavioral concerns even though they are perceived by most school psychologists as somewhat to very valuable. It appears that TPP's may be more useful to school psychologists in counseling situations than in assessment.
